May the fourth was definitely with the Orangeville Community Band during our spring concert. “Great Escape: a tribute to the North American road trip” was a great success!
Our MC, Andrew McCreary, had both audience and band members laughing from the very start with his jokes and clever word-play. Not to mention all the research he put into the different musically-inspired locations on our concert road trip map!
We were once again joined by our Beginner Band members for a particularly sneaky rendition of “Operation Super Sleuth”, wonderfully conducted by one of our very own trumpet players, Connor Philbrook.
Our musical program for the afternoon took audience members on an adventure from northern Alaska, down to the southern climates of Mexico, out to the east coast, and finally ending back home in Ontario for an impressive display of the Northern Lights. Oh! And of course there was a bit of Star Wars thrown in there for good measure.
We had a wonderfully enthusiastic audience that cheered and sang along the entire way. Not to mention an incredibly generous round of applause at the end of the performance.
To top it all off, audience members were presented with a selection of treat bags for them to choose from and enjoy during their own road trip home at the end of the day.
Overall, it was a fun-filled Saturday afternoon, and a fantastic Spring Concert!
The OCB has one final performance for the 2023-2024 season – be sure to join us during the Orangeville Blues and Jazz festival on June 1st, 2:00-5:00 PM.
We’ll see you there – and until then, happy travels everyone!
